Have you heard of Ketan rice? Also known as glutinous rice or sticky rice, Ketan rice is a rice variety grown in parts of East Asia and Southeast Asia. Unlike regular rice which separates into individual fluffy grains once cooked, Ketan rice becomes sticky after cooking and clings together with a glue-like texture. It’s also chewier than regular rice, producing a pleasant aroma and a delicious, sweet and nutty flavor when eaten. Think of Ketan rice as the “sister rice” to Japanese sushi rice.
