Preparing for Your Christmas Dinner
Christmas is best celebrated together with family and friends. It is a common tradition to have guests over to enjoy the holiday ambiance together. To help you impress your guests as the host, we have prepared a guide of our favorite homemade dishes, along with dessert ideas to conclude the dinner. Preparing Christmas dinner is always a mess in your kitchen and home, but it could be fun and satisfying.
A staple, and focal point in any main course is a properly grilled and seasoned steak. As the premier beef supplier in Bali, we provide a selection of the highest quality meat for you to choose from.
The first step for preparing a proper steak is to infuse the meat with flavor. For this, we recommend rubbing the steak with a fresh clove of garlic, then add a layer of sea salt crystals and a bit of peppercorns. Once it’s marinated, apply a coat of old fashioned butter on the meat, as well as the pan itself.
Next, you need to think about how well you want to cook the steak. For most people aiming for a medium to well-done steak, you can set the oven temperature between 60C to 70C. For your convenience, we have prepared a concise temperature chart for your reference, along with a more detailed outline of the cooking process on how to prepare the best steak.
If you or your guests prefer the seafood option, we’ve also written a simple salmon recipe for you to follow along. As Bali’s trusted seafood supplier we recommend you go with a fresh cut of salmon fillet, or you may opt for a chilled frozen salmon which you have to defrost beforehand.
Either way, follow our detailed guideline and tips for perfecting crispy salmon skin every time.
With salmon, the initial drying of the fish is important and when done properly will make the cooking process a lot easier. A gentle pat down with a paper towel is sufficient, taking care not to agitate too much.
Ideally you want to preheat the oil on a medium heat, to ensure the salmon skin heats up immediately as it makes contact. This is to prevent the common issue of having the crispy skin stick to the pan and ruining the dish. Always cook the skin-side first and observe patiently as the heat cooks the fish from the bottom. The last step is to flip the fish and briefly cook the top until it’s done.
For a healthy dessert option, we suggest serving your guests refreshing strawberry smoothies. These are quick and simple to make and your guests will thank you for providing them a nutritious drink to supplement their meal.
You can use frozen strawberries chopped into small chunks, before blending them with a favorite ice cream of your choice. You can also replace those frozen strawberries with our very own HTF Smoothies Strawberry to simplify the process.
Once you have the strawberries, mix them in a blender with 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream. Serve in a tall glass with a slice of strawberry on the edge.
If you prefer to serve your guests something healthy and also satisfy their chocolate craving, then the Chocolate Couverture is the perfect option for your guests.
Chocolate comes in different forms. For this article, we have chosen couverture chocolate for its purity and health benefits. This type of chocolate is known for its high concentration of cocoa butter and fruity flavor. In addition, its versatile nature makes it a sought after ingredient by chefs, bakers and chocolatiers alike.
With that said, we are sure your guests will be delighted to have this couverture chocolate thoroughly as a great way to end their Christmas dinner.
