There’s just something wonderful and enticing about food being prepared on the grill. Whether you’re into steaks, poultry or fresh veggies, a BBQ is a great way to come together with your friends and loved ones in an entirely different social setting.
Not only does it bring people together, but grilling out or BBQ-ing is also a treat for the senses. You can enjoy the sight, smell, sound and taste of the food being prepared over hot coals and by your own hand!
If you’re a regular at grilling out or just want to try something different and new, why not try Yakiniku next?
Yakiniku basically means Japanese BBQ and unlike a typical backyard BBQ. You grill your meats on a small round, metal grill, available at any home or hardware store. The grill sits on top of a portable gas burner which you can put in the middle of the dining table, or if you prefer, outdoors in your garden.
Yakiniku typically uses thinly sliced meats whether pork, chicken or beef. Be sure to find a cut with plenty of white (fat), as the purpose of grilling yakiniku style is to cook quickly at a high heat, which renders the fat from the meat instantly.
Here is everything that you’ll need:
- Portable Grill / Metal griddle.
- Metal tongs for cooking.
- Sliced meat of your choice.
- Yakiniku sauce.
- Fresh vegetables and side dishes like edamame.
Now all you have to do is start cooking Yakiniku!
Heat the griddle for a few minutes until it reaches 200 C or higher. Place your meat and veggies on separate sides. Remember to cook your beef and meat for only a few minutes on each side, depending on what you prefer.
Once everything is cooked to your liking, use your chopsticks to dip in some of those delicious sauces you prepared, and enjoy!
