- 220 grams brown sugar
- 96 grams vegetable shortening
- 100 grams granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 59 ml water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 255 grams rolled oats uncooked

Method:
- Preheat the oven to 176° C.
- In a large bowl, beat with a hand mixer or fork, the brown sugar, shortening and granulated sugar together until creamy.
- Add egg, water and vanilla and beat well.
- In a medium bowl, combine oats, flour, salt, and baking soda, and mix well.
- Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, and mix well.
- Place dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheets lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- Move to the wire rack.
