Who doesn’t love a good slice of braised short ribs? Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, a family gathering, or just wanting to invite guests over for a good dinner, braised short ribs are always a good option to prepare for your guests.

In this article, we’ll be sharing some of our favorite tips for cooking up the perfect braised short ribs. Don’t worry if this is your first time! Preparation

The first step in any perfect dish begins with the preparation. Start by seasoning the shorts ribs with salt and pepper – make sure to coat all the edible surface area of the meat. Then, grab your favorite cooking pot and add in olive oil, onions, celery, carrots – these will serve as the compliments to your braised short ribs. It’s worth noting in this step to not overcrowd your cooking pot. Better to cook in batches, or buy a larger cooking pot if you need to cook for a crowd.

Once you’ve got the preparations done, heat up the oven to 190 Celsius (375 Fahrenheit). In the meantime, while the oven heats up you can brown the short ribs and vegetables on the pan that you’ve prepared earlier. Make sure to get all sides of the ribs for about 8 minutes on medium-high heat. Once done, move the ribs to a clean plate and pour off the remaining seasoning except for about 5 tablespoons of juice from the seasoning.

By this time, the oven should be preheated to the temperature we mentioned above (190C or 375F). Cover the pan, and place it in the oven for about 2-3 hours. Make sure to check periodically, and add water as necessary. Set a second timer to remind you to flip over the ribs halfway through the cooking process. Remove the cover of the pan about 20-30 minutes before completion to let the sauce reduce and the ribs brown a bit more.

You want to aim for a tender texture on the ribs, while not falling apart. Once done, serve to your guests with some mashed potatoes or other complementary sides of your choice.
