Ingredients of a Classic Lasagna
A typical beef lasagna dish has delicious layers of wide pasta sheets, meat sauce, cheese, and sometimes vegetables. It’s a delightful combination of flavors and textures, rich and savory tomato-based sauce, the sweetness of ricotta, and the tanginess of mozzarella!
Is lasagne a pasta? Yes, thanks to the flat sheet of pasta that’s often used in the classic layered dish of the same name. This timeless casserole comfort food has an interesting past – while perfected by Italians, the dish originates from Greece before the conquering Romans brought it to Italy in the 14th century. The lasagna was then brought to America by Italian immigrants in the late 1800s.
Variations of Lasagna
Lasagna is so versatile that it would taste good with a wide variety of meats, not just beef. A great alternative is chicken and if you’re feeling adventurous, try seafood. Pork is another popular option those who don’t eat meat can try a vegetarian lasagna instead.
